Ree Dolly is seventeen, has grown too fast and is desperate for his father, Jessup, who has mortgaged the house to pay for the security and out of prison. Ree looks after two younger siblings and ailing mother, if her father does not appear in court will not only penniless, homeless. Ozark Mountains, Missouri, deep in the Mid-West America, poverty and a father who goes in and out of prison. Despite his frail appearance and delicate, Ree burden on the shoulders of the burden of being the only person "adult" and responsible to his family and the absolute need to find her father, Do not miss the house and avoid the adoption of siblings as a loving mother who takes care of. Ree starts looking for his father in a community that, protected by woods and mountains, is almost entirely involved in the production of cocaine.
