Claustrophobic nightmare on-the-road, this title marks a decisive turn toward realism by the most celebrated of the Italian horror master Mario Bava. Little known at home because it published two decades after construction, the work looks like a concentrate of raw violence, twists and fierce bastardy: Cast cocktail entertainment can make money at the time as to inspire the greatest exponents the prolific trend / bandwagon of modern pulp. Needless to point out how embarrassing the similarities between "Rabid Dogs" (the title English) and "Reservoir Dogs" (Le Iene ) of Tarantino, which can be considered a good reason an inspired and ironic remake of Bava.

Four thugs rob a bank, but something goes wrong, the police intervened and one of them is killed. The three remaining somehow manages to escape by car with the loot and to take hostage a man, a child and a woman. The gang members called each other by nicknames: "the doctor" is the brains of the group as "scalpel", an expert on knives, and "32", a direct competitor of the legendary John Holmes as a centimetraggio are killers from low butcher.
Rabid Dogs is hard to digest, the limit of tolerable vulgar, dirty and sweaty as the protagonists, mad dogs and hungry. The title, sinking his hands nell'improponibile, offers entertainment unhealthy but effective rhythms and sequences, care articulated by the cinema of Light, which is not denied to express themselves without inhibitions whatsoever. Contemptuous, disturbing, sometimes unbearable portrait of the deepest chasms of human basezza, but also thrilling masterpiece of the genre.
