In a suburb of Paris (the French call them the cité), the wind of the revolt broke out after the beating of the sixteen Abel by the police. The youth of the suburbs take to the streets and fight all night with agents. Among them are three friends: the jew Vinz, Said the Maghreb and black Hubert, a trio of losers, unemployed, angry and without a future.

The day of the three foolish young desperate begins when Vinz, who found a pistol from a policeman lost during the fighting, decides to use it. Directed by Matthieu Kassovitz, a twenty-five talented, gorgeous in a black and white, and spoke a dialect is not easy to translate, Hatred is a very hard film which grossed millions of viewers in France, earning the award for Best Director at Cannes in 1994.
